【摘要】:Asmuchaspossible,terminologycontainedhereinisbasedonmedicaldictionarydefinitions.Thisguideprovidesnomenclatureandclassificationstoaccuratelyandunambiguouslydescribetissueengineeredskinsubstitutesaswellastheirclinicalfunctions.Theseclassificationsystemsandtheirnomenclaturearenotintendedtobeprescriptiveforproductlabelingoradvertising.Inthisguide,x201C;replacementx201D;andx201C;substitutex201D;havedifferentmeanings,althoughtheycanbeusedsynonymouslyinordinaryEnglish.x201C;Skinsubstitute,x201D;whichisdefinedin3.5.2,isatissue-engineeredmedicalproductthataphysicianorsurgeoncanuseinamedicalorsurgicalprocedure.x201C;Skinreplacement,x201D;whichisdefinedin3.7.7,isthetherapeuticoutcomeofsuccessfulskinreplacementsurgery,butthisisonlyoneofseveralclinicalusesforskinsubstitutes.Skinsubstitutesareusedindifferentmedicalsettingsandbydifferentmedicalandsurgicalspecialties.Inordertohelpclarifytheclinicalapplicationsofskinsubstitutes,adiscussionofcommonmedicalandsurgicalproceduresthatuseconventionalskintissuegrafts(autograftandfreshorfrozenallograftandxenograft)isprovidedinSection6.ThisdiscussionisintendedprovidecontextforunderstandingthecategoriesofSection7,whichmodelclinicalusesofskinsubstitutesbycomparisonwiththeusesofconventionalskingrafts.However,theprocedures,circumstances,andsurgicalintentionsinsectionarenotintendedtolimitthepossibleusesofskinsubstitutes,noristheclassificationinsectionintendedtolimittheusesofskinsubstitutestoonlythoseusesofconventionalskingrafttissues.1.1Thisguidedefinesterminologyandprovidesclassificationforproductsthatcanbesubstitutedfortissuegraftsofhumanoranimaltissueinmedicalandsurgicaltherapiesofskinlesions.1.2Thisguideprovidesaclassificationmethodforskinsubstitutesbycomparingtheirclinicaluseswiththoseofconventionaltissuegrafts.However,skinsubstitutesmayalsohaveequivalent,superior,orinferiorclinicalpropertiesincomparisontoconventionaltissuegrafts.Clinicalclassificationisindependentofthematerialsandtechnologyusedtomakeaskinsubstitute,orwhetheritscomponentsincludehumanoranimaltissueorotherbiologicalornon-biologicalmaterials.1.3Thisguidealsodescribesanomenclatureforsystematicdescriptionofthetechnologiesandcomponentsofskinsubstitutesthatisindependentoftheirclinicalutilities.Thissystematicnomenclatureisnotintendedtobeprescriptiveforproductlabeling,anditdescribesonlythemostsalientcharacteristicsofskinsubstitutes;theactualbiologicalandclinicalfunctionsofskinsubstitutescandependoncharacteristicsnotrecognizedinthenomenclature,anditshouldbeunderstoodthattwoproductsthatcanbedescribedidenticallybythenomenclatureshouldnotbepresumedtobeidenticalorhavethesameclinicalutility.1.4Thisguidedoesnotprovideacorrespondencebetweentheskinsubstitutecompositionandtheclinicalclassification.Also,morethanoneproductmaybesuitableforeachclinicaluse,andoneproductmayhavemorethanoneclinicaluse.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspr......
